there was a condensating shady acre place, a place,
you had to be there,
covert to the common signs
that say "hello there, how ya doin'?"
causing all the people in the town
to hold their hands and heads up...high.
Pappy's in the park playing game of chess with old man Henry,
flake of pollen landed on his nose,
he was stung by a bee, who made him nervous,
got the jitters as he lost the game,
though he just backed and smiled.
precious little values that survived the horrors of history.
they did it again, they flushed it again right down that goddamn drain,
and waited on the other side for it to come out good,
but didn't know what they were getting into 'cause it did not come back at all,
a moment in time where they could not see beyond the lids of their eyes,
watching your motions to pick up the phone.
stop the ringing with a snap of those fingers,
snapped them again red lights changed to a green
as frowns went upside down,
smiled in disbelief, now this is a place that I can call...
I wish I could just be more like you,
I wish I could just be more like you,
and walk exactly like you walk,
and talk exactly like you.

Lovely

if I die at the seams,
turn the page then tear it out,
leave burning.
who's to blame,
if my body waves the soul goodbye?
wake yourself up and turn around,
stick with your soul and leave your body behind.
'cause if you say it enough they'll start singing the love all for you,
and if you sing it enough they'll start shouting with love beside you,
if you say it enough they'll start singing the love all for you,
and if you sing it enough they'll start shouting with love....
...it's lovely when I hear you call my name.
oh, so, so pleased to meet you.
night and day,
the sun and moon try to collide,
but it won't happen, they move on.
don't let your seams wear away
before I see your face. it's the same.
...it's lovely when I hear you call my name.
oh, so, so pleased to meet you.

hey there son, sittin' in the corner all by yourself.
I guess it's not a day for smilin'.
we'll turn it upside down,
we've got all the time in the world.
those hands are pasty white from writing out your name across the walls,
start soundin' like that wild beast...from all your precious children's books, yeah.
those troubles I swear fall further than your reasons.
just take a second and think about it,
those troubles I swear, they fall...
well I've found a new beginning in this age,
it starts with my name then the rest is up to me,
fact of life: you live the same day over and over
till you get it right.
it's what lies within', and you choose the lies that come out (that define what you're thinkin').
maybe if we had one-armed clocks, time would stand long enough for me to see my self.
those troubles I swear fall further than your reasons.
just take a second and think about it,
those troubles I swear, they fall...
well it's been like the S.O.S from when I was lost, 'til I saw myself then spelt my name out, so that the plane could see that I...was already found.
if you could choose to be an item in the next life,
I'd be a set of stairs watching people walk by,
taking count for every single step they make,
from the beginning to the end of all mankind.

in the town where I was born,
lived a man.
sailed from coast to coast,
using only land.
the stories he told me
about the things he'd seen
are the kinds of things
few men have ever seen.
we all realize
our time is obsolete.
we all realize
our time is obsolete.
"now the thing to know," he said,
"wherever you go,
you'll never be alone"
no, never alone.
now here is the saddest part:
that man was full of heart,
yeah, he was full of it,
full of it from the start.
we all realize
our time is obsolete.
we all realize
our time is obsolete.
all we are is all alone.
you make love and break love.

Little Whispers

little whispers point at me, am I a devil?
this peak will take us closer to heaven;
it's not that cold but all of us tremble;
take one more (it's been almost an hour).
...only come out at night with the headlights.
we all fall like waterfalls,
at a moment so high....
this drop is twice as long as it feels,
and it all comes together right.

Sake / Closer

this jacket is making me sweat,
though when I take it off it's hard to breathe.
killing my time as a cigarette.
talking's no different, can't make no sense at all;
talking's at a difference, I make up words,
to keep my head on top,
before catching ourselves speaking through walls.
oh yeah, speaking through the walls.
my toes are numb and my fingers swollen,
throat's dried out from swallowing plastic.
it's getting deeper than me,
it's getting deep in my skin.
oh yeah, deep in my skin.
my toes are numb and my fingers swollen,
throat's dried out from swallowing plastic.
it's getting deeper in my skin,
retrieving all the splinters that lie within my additions off,
I've taken too much medication in my skin.
oh yeah, deep in my skin.
why you hard to reach?
not a soul set out to sea
'cept you sailin' as a ship
at the bottom of my bottle.
and there's nothing I can do
to get closer, oh yeah.
why you hard to reach?
not a soul set out to sea
'cept you sailin' as a ship
at the bottom of my bottle.
